Abstract This article presents an overview of the problems associated with the prevention and management of sexual dysfunction in women and men and the paraphilias. It is also possible that sex differences in paraphilias reflect or represent an exaggeration of accepted gender roles, such that men are more likely to display sadistic interests (representing proceptivity, strength, and control), and women are more likely to display masochistic interests (representing receptivity, weakness, and surrender).

As the male-bias for most paraphilias suggests, the development of paraphilias may simply be associated with the development of a male gender role. Perhaps the cultures in which studies have been conducted sanction masculine individuals to develop para-philic interests to a greater extent than feminine individuals, along with other sexual.

Paraphilias represent deviant or perverse sexual behavior, while gender dysphoria is the condition of a person feeling that their gender identity is opposite to their biological sex. These problems can get aggravated by the process of aging or by the presence of multiple stressors and chronic conditions.

Using a conceptual model that incorporates biological, psychological, and cultural interventions as its guiding principle, the book explores and evaluates the epidemiology of sexual disorders.

Gender Disorders and the Paraphilias is an ambitious effort to replace uncertainty with assurance. Guided by the " principle of constructive alternativism" (p. ix) (behavior is interpretable from various perspectives, no one superior to any other), the author's intent is to integrate "endocrinology, general psychiatry, psychoanalysis.

Wearing diapers has been proceeded by cross-dressing and associated with gender identity confusion and temporal lobe involvement. A twenty-four-year-old male began cross-dressing at the age of ten, and at fifteen started putting on diapers and sucking from a bottle.

This gave him a feeling of well-being and confidence. The paraphilias were classified as psychosexual disorders, which included gender identity disorder, psychosexual dysfunctions, and ego-dystonic homosexuality.

DSM-IV maintained the diagnostic classification of paraphilias. DSM-IV-TR moved transvestism from a disorder of gender identity to a paraphilia called transvestic fetishism.
